Oprah takes on James Frey over A Million Little Pieces

As it turns out only 999,000 of the pieces were real, the other 1,000 were kinda made up. Whoops. If you didn’t see last week’s grilling of James Frey on Oprah then you missed some pretty amazing TV viewing. For those of you that may not know James Frey is the author of A Million Little Pieceswhich has for some time now been a member of Oprah’s Book Club. Having a A Million Little Pieces named to the book club has meant a windfall for Frey. Sales of his book have soared but last week that all changed after The Smoking Gun reported that Frey had lied in his supposed memoir. So last week on her show Oprah confronted Frey and appeared to make him feel about as rotten as humanly possible. He looked completely shell shocked for the whole hour and even his publicist got a little verbal lashing from Oprah too. And rightfully so, her promotion of A Million Little Pieces is the reason it has sold so well and now it turns out to not be the raw, true life story that it was billed as. Anyway I’m really curious about the book now, it actually kinda makes me want to read it more than before.
